Awaiting MIDI Controller...
Connect Your MIDI Controller
USB Connection (Recommended)
- Connect your controller to your computer with a USB cable (USB-C on the Travel Sax 2).
- Open this page in Chrome or Edge and click "Allow" when the browser asks for MIDI access.
- Your device name will appear in the status line above. Play!
Bluetooth MIDI Connection
- Mac: Open Audio MIDI Setup, go to Window > Show MIDI Studio, click the Bluetooth icon, and connect your device. Then open this page in Chrome.
- Windows: Pair the device in Settings > Bluetooth first. Windows Bluetooth MIDI support varies; a USB cable is the more reliable option.
- Once paired at the system level, the device appears here automatically, even if you pair after opening the page.
Wind Controllers & Breath
- The Growler responds to breath control (CC2): your air stream shapes the volume in real time, just like a real horn.
- Works out of the box with the Odisei Travel Sax 2, Akai EWI, Roland Aerophone, and other wind controllers, on any MIDI channel.
- Mod wheel (CC1) controls Flutter, CC74 controls Brightness, and pitch bend is fully supported.
The Growler uses the Web MIDI API, supported in Chrome, Edge, and Opera on desktop and Android. Safari and iOS do not currently support Web MIDI; on those devices, use the on-screen keyboard.
